This was a last minute place we managed to get a reservation at, due to a cancellation. We had decided at the last minute to get a reservation at our favourite Restaurant’s, no reservations were available, out of shear luck there had been a cancellation at Bonfire Bistro. We made our way to this location on Corydon. We were intrigued immediately, parking although cramped was available, the store front was inviting and the interior immediately gave us a welcome feeling. The noise of conversations was on the louder side but not intrusive, you could still have your own conversation. Our waiter greeted us in a friendly manner and was very knowledgeable as he presented us with the special s on the chalkboard. We made our selections, my wife hade the Lamb shank, which was amazingly delicious, was a good size portion. I had the paella which very flavourful and pleasing to the eye. I will leave you with this, our food choices were wonderful and the atmosphere inviting. I am so glad a cancellation occurred, as we now have a new favourite to add to our list. I’ll leave that for my next review and will pride pictures. Should you try out Bonfire based of my review, you will not be disappointed. Already looking forward to our next visit.
We had a family dinner, my 4 y.o. son went home telling us “that is the best pizza” :) the food is really delicious and the presentation is great. Desserts are well done and very tasty. (Photos included) the place looks very clean and quite. Staff are also friendly and very helpful.
Been there a few times, but the gnocchi with braised short ribs was so amazing. The time I got it was almost soup like but I got every last drop from my bowl. So many flavours and textures going on, I will definitely be ordering it again! 5/5!
We shared the meatballs as an appetizer. For an entree, I ordered the homemade Mac and Cheese with Chorizo sausage. Desert was "popcorn ice cream". It was a fantastic and flavorful meal. Bonfire Bistro is a great place to go when you aren't in a rush and want to have a leisurely meal. The service is friendly and the food is delicious, and well worth the wait. I will definitely be returning to try some more entrees.
Love this place—it’s definitely made our top 3 pasta places in Winnipeg. Their pizzas are great too. Their selections are always excellent. We usually stray away from specials cause we like sticking to what we know is good, but with Bonfire Bistro, we’ve found that you can never really go wrong no matter what you order. Super authentic, and honestly quite underrated!
Bonefire Bistro in Winnipeg isn't just a dining establishment; it's a memorable gastronomic experience. From the moment you step in, there's an undeniable sense of warmth and commitment to culinary excellence. Starting with the house-made Caesar salad, it's evident that the chef possesses an adeptness at combining ingredients. This salad is more than just a mix of lettuce and dressing; it's a symphony of flavors. The robust presence of garlic, the savory bite of bacon, the rich undertones of parmesan, and the refreshing zing of lemon all come together in a dance of taste that is both classic and innovative. The freshly made flatbread is a testament to what happens when simple ingredients are treated with respect and skill. Crisp, yet soft, it serves as the perfect vessel for the house-made warm spinach artichoke dip. This dip is rich and creamy, with the spinach and artichokes melding seamlessly. However, it was the braised beef short rib gnocchi that truly stole the show. Each bite is a journey - tender beef, soft gnocchi, and a sauce that wraps around every morsel with a flavorful embrace. It's a dish that makes you pause, savor, and appreciate the mastery behind it. The chicken breast with sambuca fig sauce is an unexpected delight. The sweetness of the figs, paired with the slightly anise-like kick of sambuca, elevates the juicy chicken to new heights. The roasted vegetables, fresh and crunchy, gain an added depth from the tang of goat cheese. Dessert is often an afterthought at many restaurants, but not here. The house-made carrot cake, dense yet moist, is enhanced by a rich cream cheese icing that is perfectly sweetened. The caramel sauce drizzled atop brings a luscious finish to the dessert. And those butter tarts? They encapsulate everything a butter tart should be - flaky, buttery, and decadently sweet. Beyond the food, what sets Bonefire Bistro apart is its ambiance and staff. The wood-fired oven casts a gentle glow, creating an environment of warmth and intimacy. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, ensuring you feel both cared for and at ease. Furthermore, the cleanliness of the establishment, especially the restrooms, speaks to the attention to detail and pride they take in their establishment. In a city like Winnipeg, with its burgeoning food scene, Bonefire Bistro emerges as a shining beacon of what happens when passion meets skill. Their focus on using fresh and high-quality ingredients is evident in every bite. It's a place where food isn't just eaten; it's celebrated. Easily one of the most delightful dining experiences in the city.
First time trying Bonfire Bistro. To start, we had the bruschetta, which tasted great with the goat cheese. I tried the prosciutto & pear pizza, and I really enjoyed this combination of flavors and textures. The crust was a flat bread style thin crust, which was nice. Recommend giving it a try if you haven't tried this type of pizza before. Lastly, I had the paella. The meats in this dish were cooked perfectly, and the portion was quite large (could be shared between two people). However, the seasoning of the dish was a bit bland. Overall, most of the dishes were very good. The waiter was great as well.
If you're looking for a cozy place to eat dinner, grab some wine and have a satisfying meal, look no further. Parking can be tight, but there's street parking and a short walk if needed. The braised beef gnocchi was melt in your mouth savouryness, the beef fell apart like butter. Sangria was refreshing. As a solo traveler, bar seating was no problem but already full ish in the evening on Saturday so might be good to get reservations for peak times. Alex the waitress was super fun, friendly and attentive, she's been there for 20 years now! Ann the waitress was awesome too, the chocolate creme brule had a satisfying crunch sound when your spoon breaks through the caramel layer.
